COSEC & REUSE projects mutual workshops during EUBCE - European Biomass Conference & Exhibition 2026

The REUSE Project and COSEC-Horizon Europe project joined forces at the EUBCE - European Biomass Conference & Exhibition (EUBCE) 2026! As part of the parallel workshop on Biogenic CO₂ Capture and Conversion, leading researchers from both projects shared breakthrough insights on innovative pathways for sustainable carbon management and bioenergy integration. We had the pleasure to welcome: - Dr. Athanasios Papadopoulos, MEng, PhD (Centre for Research & Technology Hellas (CERTH)) - Dr. Uma Shankar Sagaram (CyanoCapture) - Prof. Jonathan Lee (Newcastle University) - Dr. F. Gabriel Acien (Universidad de Almería) The workshop showcased how REUSE and COSEC contribute directly to EUBCE’s core themes of biomass valorisation, carbon capture utilisation (CCU), and overall the transition toward climate-neutral energy systems. REUSE presented its innovative enzymatic CO₂ capture and utilisation approach using a Rotating Packed Bed (RPB) system, aiming to improve efficiency and scalability of biogenic carbon capture. COSEC showcased nature-based CO₂ capture from bioenergy systems and its transformation into sustainable energy carriers, supporting circular and low-carbon bioeconomy pathways.
